Nambi MYTH Book

Pamela Enyonu created a book in response to the Art, Archive and Activism project. She reworked the Tongue Touch Nambi Myth, retold by poet Susan Kiguli during the storytelling workshop in Uganda, March 2020.

Nambi, @syokereart

NBULIZA ABAANA, (Ask the children for me) tells the story of the immortal Nambi. After Kintu she goes on to live in the heavens and from here she asks about her offspring and the lives they lead. She wonders how the choices they have made are affecting them and if their thirst for development can be quenched by their eager assault on their home.

This project is a sequel set in modern times tackling themes of climate change, inequality, feminism, intersectionality and capitalism. I would like to explore how the daughters of Nambi are robbed of their agency and power by the patriarchy.
